Netball Final! A Reflection from Bethlehem 3rd Year (Junior A)
The netball final on the 26th March, 2026 at Gormanston Park was one of the biggest matches of the year for our team, as we took on Wesley College. Everyone was ready to go and the adrenaline started to kick in. Everybody was so excited (and a little nervous of course).
From the very first quarter, the game was intense. Both teams came out strong, and it was clear it was going to be a tough match. We had some great passages of play early on, with strong defending and some really well-taken shots. The energy from the sidelines was unreal, with everyone cheering us on and creating an amazing atmosphere, which carried on throughout all matches.
As the game went on, it stayed really close. There were loads of great moments - quick passes, important interceptions, and some brilliant teamwork across the court. Both teams were goint point for point in the first quarter.
In the second half, the pressure definitely increased, but the team kept pushing. Everyone worked so hard for each other, showing real determination and not giving up, even when things got difficult. Wesley College managed to pull slightly ahead, but we kept fighting right to the end.
Going into the final quarter, we gave it everything we had. Our encouragement for each other had helped us to keep going which really showed the team's spirit and determination.
In the end, we unfortunately lost and although we didn't get the win, it's safe to say we left everything out on the court. Of course, it was disappointing expecially after winning all league matches, but making it to the final is something we're all really proud of.
This match summed up our whole season - hard work, teamwork and supporting each other the whole way through. A hugh thank you to our coaches for all their time and effort, and to everyone who came to support us. Even though we didn't win, it's a match and a season we'll never forget and we will come back stronger!
