Chess

As proved by evidence, [chess is] more lasting in its being and presence than all books and achievements; the only game that belongs to all people and all ages; of which none knows the divinity that bestowed it on the world, to slay boredom, to sharpen the senses, to exhilarate the spirit.

- Stefan Zweig, Novelist and Playwright

Chess is not a game purely based on skill, it is something you can master with patience and concentration.  A very valuable skill set is developed through chess, the game involves problem solving, decision making and how to remain calm under pressure.  Engaging in chess can also have a positive impact on self-esteem and confidence.

Chess is truly one of those games that can be appreciated by all ages.  Our chess players, both old and new, should be proud, not just because of their many victories but also because of the fun and engaging environment they unknowingly created every Tuesday after school.  What an incredible group of people, I am proud to be a part of this team.  I am only excited for the future since we get to do it all again. Nice going guys!
