Subject Overview
Aims:

Content Overview
Form 1
Module 1
Introduction to the school network, file management and the student profile Edmodo.
Module 2
Introduction to presentation applications and alternatives. Students understand the relationship between the presentation the audience and the presenter. Student will be able to construct a presentation Prezi as an alternative model.
Module 3
Internet Safety: Student is aware of the importance of being safe on the internet.
Module 4
Students will be able to use their account to complete academic work, Students are introduced to these cloud based apps and are able to use Docs and Slides. Students understand the concept of the cloud and can apply it to their academic account.
Form 2
Module 1
How computers work; communication, binary code, networking, hardware/software.
Module 2
Microsoft office Programs, Word, Power-Point, focusing on creative graphics and animations.
Module 3
Introduction to scratch gaming basic coding principles.
Module 4
Creation of Phone Applications. Basic coding principles, medium advanced applications.
Transition Year
Module 1
Initial set up of machines. Installation of operating systems and software.
Module 2
Password hacks and how to be security conscious. Virus removal and error troubleshooting. Maintaining hardware and software.
Module 3
Laptop screen, keyboard, hard drive replacement. Full dismantle and rebuild of Laptop, Desktop and Mobile Phone.
Module 4
How to build a server and set up a network. Set up of Patches and Switches. Wiring an RJ45 and face plate.
Form 5
Module 1
How computers work; communication, binary code, networking, hardware/software.

Microsoft Office Programs, Word, Power-Point.
Module 3
Creation of Phone Applications (Apps). Basic coding principles, medium advanced applications.
