The Junior Cycle curriculum in Drogheda Grammar School is delivered in Forms 1, 2, and 3 leading to a public examination for the Junior Certificate awarded by the State Examination Commission.

All pupils attend classes in the following subjects:

English; Irish; Mathematics; History; Geography; General Science; Civic, Social, and Political Education (CSPE); Social, Personal, and Health Education (SPHE); IT/Computer Studies and Physical Education.

The first 7 of the above subjects will be presented by all pupils in the Junior Certificate examinations at the end of Form 3.

Three further examination subjects are chosen from the list below and studied until the end of Form 3.

Art, Craft, and Design
Business Studies
Home Economics
Technical Graphics

We are currently in the process of reviewing the range of subjects and expect to add more choice to this list in the near future.

One of the unique elements of how we provide the Junior Cycle curriculum is how we offer the opportunity to study all of the option subject above in the first term. This allows our students to make informed educational decisions on which options they would like to choose.   They experience each subject for approximately 3 weeks and then at the end of October choose the subjects they wish to study for the remainder of the Junior Cycle.
