22nd May - Drogheda Grammar School Parent, Teacher Association would like to invide all Parents, Friends and Teachers to this years "Fun filled Quiz Night" on 22nd May 2012 in the Glenside Hotel at 7.30pm. Cost €5 per person teams of four which acan be made on the night. There will be a Raffle on the night with some fantastic prizes!!!

Anti Bullying Campaign
ANTI-BULLYING AWARENESS WEEK 2011/2012 Students were asked to write a poem, song, play or short story with an anti-bullying theme or message. Prizes were won in each section for both Juniors (Form 1 – 3) and Seniors (Form 4 – 6). Student Honoured
Aidan Kelly - Class of 2011, has been honoured with a UCD High Achievers Award. The High Achievers Award is presented to First Year College students who achieve 540 points or more in their Leaving Certificate in recognition of their academic achievement. The students' Head Teachers were also invited and Richard Schmidt was there to support Aidan and to collect a commerative scroll from the President of UCD, Dr. Hugh Brady.
Computational Thinking
NUI Maynooth - Computational Thinking Challenge. We are pleased to announce that James Lockwood Form 6 has been placed 14th in the Challenge set by Maynooth's Computer Science Department. They received over 2,300 solutions from 76 schools. The challenge was to connect forty towns with at least 40km between them. We are very proud of James, Well Done!
Chess
Chess News - The school chess team competed in the Leinster Finals on Tuesday, March 16th with much success. The B team achieved joint second in Leinster, while the girls team came first in the Girls' Leinster League. The result is that both teams will be competing in the All Ireland Finals in Limerick following the Easter break.

"Fairtrade Fortnight" was celebrated at DGS between February 27th and March 9th. On Thursday 8th March the CSPE department held an awareness day to highlight the event.Art, Model making and Cookery competitions were held. 19 students and 3 staff (Mr Elliott, Ms. Kieran and Mr. Kennedy) spent a fantastic mid term break skiing in Gstaad, Switzerland. The snow conditions were the best seen for years and everybody enjoyed the experience at Haut Lac International Centre.BT Young Scientist

World Challenge
The World Challenge Group held a pizza day recently to raise money for their World Challenge trip to Jordan in April. Salsa Classes also began on Wednesday January 11th at Drogheda Grammar School from 8-9pm to raise funds for The World Challenge trip. Classes are €10 or a five week course for €40. The Jordan project will also benefit from a Salsa Sweetheart Valentine Party on Friday February 10th in the Boyne Valley Hotel with tickets €10. Doors open at 8.30pm.
