Poetrython 2016

To celebrate National Poetry Day Ireland, Drogheda Grammar School hosted its first ever Poetrython! What is this you may well ask?  Well, it involved the continuous reading of poetry from 9.00am to 3.30pm in the main foyer of the school.  In all, over 400 poetry readings took place as students and teachers read their own poems as well as their favourite poems during the school day, lunch break and the intervals between classes.  Readings were not confined to English poems, students and teachers also read poems in Irish, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Polish, Cantonese and Japanese!  The brainchild of English teachers, Ms Donohoe and Ms Maguire, it is clear that the love of poetry is alive and flourishing in Drogheda Grammar School!

Shakespeare 400

The spirit of Shakespeare’s creativity was on show in the foyer of Drogheda Grammar School on April 23rd as 5th Year students displayed a range of projects based on his great play Hamlet.  Projects included short films, sound-tracks, comic books, memory boxes, scale models in addition to paintings, PowerPoint and poster presentations.
