Choosing a secondary school for your child is an important step in their future.  We are happy that you are considering Drogheda Grammar School.

As your child progresses through primary school, particularly in the latter years you will begin to research secondary schools perhaps attending various Open Evenings.

Along with our Annual Open Evening, here at Drogheda Grammar School we encourage you to contact the school office to make an individual or group appointment to meet with the Principal and tour our school in real-time so to speak, to help your son or daughter get a real sense of Drogheda Grammar School.

  • Once you have decided that Drogheda Grammar School is the school for your child our application process is simple:
  • An application form can be requested from the school by telephone, email or from our website.
  • It is important to remember that applications are considered on a first come, first served basis and therefore you should ensure that you complete your application well in advance.
  • Once completed, the application form should be returned to Anita Harmon – Admissions at the school address.
  • Places are offered to students in September of the year before your child is due to begin.
  • Once a place is confirmed, you will be notified about the details of the Scholarship Test for all interested first year applicants.  This test usually takes place in December with successful scholarship recipients being notified in January.
  • All first year students are expected to sit the CAT4 test usually held February/March.  Details about this test will be issued to all parents.
  • Book Lists, uniform requirements and the school calendar will be issued to you in June.
  • You will receive our final information pack in August outlining your son/daughter’s arrangements for the first day of term and also arrangements concerning their first week at Drogheda Grammar School.

If at any time, you or your son/daughter have any questions, please contact the school office.
